01 — OVERVIEW

A twelve-behaviour motion language for computational biology.

The brief

Atlas Labs builds tools for computational biology. Their research is extraordinary; their product films made it look like a spreadsheet.

We designed a motion language that could explain a process without narrating it. Lines grow. Fields bloom. Data settles into place.

The language

Twelve behaviours cover everything from a single tooltip to a full feature film. Each one has a defined duration, easing curve, and failure state, so the system survives contact with real product constraints.

The resulting films raised the quality of every explanation the team makes, without a single stock animation.
